STORY
2015 marks the 100 years since the birth of Tapio Wirkkala. Iittala has created a special collection of some of his famous pieces to celebrate this icon of Finnish design. Wirkkala challenged the way glass was being worked and created the iconic organic surface by burning a wooden mould with molten glass. Wirkkala's Ultima Thule is still one of the most iconic pieces of Finnish glass design.
