Tiina Laakkonen opened TIINA the STORE in May 2012 in the village of Amagansett, NY, near the home she shares with her husband. As one of the fashion industry’s leading stylists, Laakkonen’s dream was to one day build a store that could serve as an extension of her own personal style, where she could curate pieces by her favorite designers in fashion, beauty, and home in a relaxed environment that showcases her distinct point of view.
The result is a modern selection of items that are clean in form, yet exquisitely handmade, each in some way reflective of Laakkonen’s simple Amagansett lifestyle. From a classic cashmere sweater to the perfect set of candlesticks, great design is the central, underlying philosophy of the store, with timeless treasures that echo the background and stories of the artisans who made them. Laakkonen’s vision for TIINA the STORE is one of beauty, tradition, quality and luxury – inspired offerings from a wealth of international designers and Scandinavian artists that hearken back to her Finnish countryside origins.
Tiina's idea is to curate and edit the store seasonally and to keep it in a constant, organic evolution. The "special guest" room allows the store to introduce and showcase brands in depth by allowing them to express their own vision and style in a more intimate and profound way.
