Artek Trienna table in Black. Designed by Imari Tapiovaara in 1954. Form pressed, birch plywood with veneer surface. Made in Finland.
Artek was established in 1935 by Alvar Aalto, his wife Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl, four young idealists and architects, designers and art historians. Their idea was to create a modern, new kind of environment for everyday life inspired by their warm and humane style. They believed in a grand synthesis of the arts and wanted to make a difference in architecture and design. Artek’s original values - long term durability and high quality together with clean design - are still the company’s core. Many of Aalto’s early designs are still in production next to leading international architects, designers and artist.
